Online Lecture by Monash University

On September 25, there was an online model lecture, “Lost on the Great Barrier Reef,” held by Monash University in Australia, for the students of Akashi College. Monash University is one of 3 universities providing opportunities for our students to transfer into undergraduate programs at the 2nd or 3rd year of university overseas.

In this online class, Mr. Paul Henry, who has assisted Monash University students from over 100 countries and regions, facilitated discussions in English by 13 students divided into two groups. Although the students’ English speaking abilities differed, the genial support of Mr. Henry stimulated the students’ active participation. After the class, he concluded by explaining the importance of the strategic collaborations needed to successfully complete the task at hand and how such collaboration techniques are important to becoming better engineers.

Subsequently, the Japanese staff of Monash College, a support center for international students, explained about student life in Melbourne and Monash University and had a question and answer session.

We hope this lecture will encourage the participants to take part in various future events and to collect information more actively for considering their own futures.
